The recent breakdown of the cessation of hostilities in Syria has potentially ushered in a new and even darker phase of the Syrian civil war.
The increase in aerial assaults on Aleppo and other rebel-held areas over the last few weeks has led many to speculate that the regime of Bashar al-Assad is manoeuvring for an end-game.
But is this the case or could a renewed cessation of hostilities, local truces or a third-way lead Syria out of the malaise?
