Since 2014, war has beset the eastern regions of Ukraine as separatist groups fight for autonomy and the country fights to retain its territorial integrity. Often depicted in the media as a war against Russian interference, many see the conflict in Ukraine as the frontline in a new global standoff between West and East, capitalism and communism, imperialism and independence. In this session, we will attempt to discern truth from myth, and discuss not only the causes and consequences of this war, but also its implications in global politics today.
